ASSAF HINDEN

Born in 1988 in Israel

Currently based in Tel Aviv

He holds an MFA from The Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp (2021) and a BFA from Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem (2016), both magna cum laude.

Recent grants and fellowships include the Ministry of Culture Young Artist Award (Israel, 2023), the Asylum Arts Grant (New York, 2022), and the Roger De Conynck Photographer Prize (Belgium, 2021).

Hinden has exhibited internationally at institutions such as Fotomuseum Winterthur (CH), The Benaki Museum (GR), Photoforum Pasquart (CH), The Ramat Gan Museum of Art (ISR), and Photo Museum of Antwerp (BE). His solo exhibitions include The Lobby Art Space (2024), CACR, Israel (2023), and Artspace TLV (2018).

He has participated in prestigious residencies such as MeetFactory (CZ, 2023), ARCAthens (GR, 2022), and Lucy Art Residency (GR, 2021). He has also lectured at Bezalel Academy, Athens School of Fine Arts, EMST Athens, and Tel Aviv University.

As a curator, he has led notable projects including Text(ile) (2023), Last Call (2020), and No Rainbows Without Rain (2019).

Hinden’s research-based practice explores photography, archival materials, and spatial narratives, questioning memory, history, and identity. His mixed cultural backgroundMoroccan and German Jewish heritage—deeply informs his work, addressing themes of displacement and historical reconstruction.
